Bush Shoe Attack Spoofed

The shoe-attack of a reporter on President George W. Bush of the United States during a press conference in Iraq was a surprise (left pic; click to view in the BBC), but it did create a lot of serious reaction where people either took the side of the shoe-throwing reporter or the U.S. There have been calls for the release of the journalist who has gained a kind of celebrity status, but the U.S. government stated that it's up to the Iraqis to determine the fate of the angry reporter. President Bush reportedly simply shrugged off the incident.

On the lighter side of the shoe-throwing, there already have been video spoofs of the press conference event. It just shows that there are still those who view things like these happening like a humorous editorial cartoon, and in this age of the Internet video, there's less of the editorial and more of the humor. Watch this video on this side of the story.

Marley & Me Behind the Scenes Look

Dogs are always popular extras - even main characters in movies. They're in all kinds of movie genres and have played both good and bad "characters." Thie new dog movie for the Christmas season starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston is a comedy, but it will also have its share of drama no doubt.

Dogs are actually easy to work with in a movie as long as you keep it motivated with rewards. As for the actors, well, it's also a treat to be friends with their furry co-stars in spite of their doggy antics. Shown in the picture above is the real Marley and author of the best-selling book the movie is based on. Get a behind-the-scenes look in the movie Marley & Me in this video.

How Feeding Cockroaches to Pet Lizards Can Lead to Environmental Disaster

Every pet owner has a responsibility to feed his pet no matter what kind it is. Dogs are fed dog food, cats are fed cat food. These are typically processed already and come in plastic bags, cans, or boxes. "Eat's" easy to feed common pets like these. But for pet lizard owners, it's a different story.

Food for lizards are not sourced readily from grocery stores. They are bought from pet shops which get their supplies as "fresh meat" imported from other countries. For some reason, both lizard and pet shop owners prefer to get this meat in the form of exotic cockroaches that aren't native to their destination.

Scientists fear that some of these roaches may escape, proliferate, and cause an environmental, ecological imbalance. Without the typical predators that eat them, their numbers can grow to unmanageable proportions the likes of which you see only in a movie that could be titled "Roaches." Even without the help of petshops, cockroaches like the Turkestan roach have already entered Florida by hitch hiking along with soldiers coming back from the Middle East.

The picture here on the left shows three small chunks (in the triangular shadow) made by the trough, which disappear after a while. It is believed to be dice-sized ice which sublimated in the thin atmosphere. Check the link to view the gif animation.
