Meteor Crash Makes Peruvian Village Sick

A large meteorite which left a hundred-foot-wide crater near a village in Peru has sickened people who inhaled strange fumes from the crater it left. The crater itself expelled boiling water. The fall coincided with the Perseid meteor shower which periodically comes in August, but the true nature of the extraterrestrial object is yet to be determined.

Go to Macrocosm Magbook to view a picture of comet Swift-Tuttle, which is associated with the Perseid meteor shower.
