Melting North Pole Spurs Quest for Fossil Fuels in Ironic Twist
Yes, the North Pole appears to be shrinking and some people say it's because of the greenhouse gases released from the use of fossil fuels. But now that much of the areas once covered in ice are exposed, there is now a rush by countries like Russia to find more fossil fuels and other natural resources to exploit in once inaccessible places.
If these countries do find more oil or natural gas, that could only mean more greenhouse gases to release and more ice will likely melt farther north. So what are we to do? Watch the video to see how countries are scrambling for a piece of the North Pole.
