Taiwan Throws Caution to the Wind in Giving an R-18 Rating to "Lust, Caution"
Director Ang Lee's erotic spy thriller, "Lust, Caution" (Se, Jie) was given an R-18 rating by Taiwan authorities unlike in China, where it had 30 minutes of controversial scenes edited out in order to be made "fit for release." The movie has resulted in a review of movie classification and censorship in China. Nevertheless, the full unedited version of "Lust, Caution" is expected to be sold in Chinese bootlegged optical media copies in Asia and other parts of the world if copyright authorities in China fail to curb movie piracy.
